About these terms
Ashfall (the “App”) is published by Haselrig Technologies LLC (“Haselrig Technologies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Your use of the App is governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with these Community Terms and Online Play Rules (“Community Terms”). The Community Terms add rules for playing with other people.
Agreeing before multiplayer
Multiplayer puts you in text and voice chat with other players. Before you use multiplayer—local network play, online lobbies, Quick Match or Game Center invitations—the App shows a summary of these rules with links to these Community Terms and the Privacy Policy. Tapping I AGREE means you accept these Community Terms; the App remembers your agreement on that device. If you don’t agree, you can keep playing solo.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive players. Players who break these rules can be removed from online play.
Online play rules
Whenever you play with others—in text chat, in voice chat, through your display name, or any other way—do not:
- harass, bully or intimidate other players;
- use hate speech or slurs, or attack anyone for who they are;
- threaten violence or harm against anyone;
- share sexual or sexually explicit content;
- share personal information, yours or anyone else’s, such as real names, addresses, phone numbers or social media accounts;
- impersonate another player, Haselrig Technologies or anyone else;
- spam chat or flood voice chat;
- ask anyone their age, for photos, to meet in person, or to talk on another app or service, or otherwise target a younger player;
- cheat, grief, or exploit bugs to gain an advantage or disrupt a battle; or
- use an offensive display name, including one that is hateful, sexual or impersonating.
Online, your display name comes from Game Center. If it breaks these rules, change it in Game Center before playing online.
Reporting a player
If another player breaks these rules, report them:
- In the App: tap the actions button next to the player’s name in a lobby or in a battle’s comms list, choose Report, and pick a reason. The report includes the player’s most recent chat line, if they sent one, and mutes them on your device.
- Through our website: use our contact form with “Ashfall” as the app. Include the player’s display name, the lobby code if you have it, and what happened.
We review reports within 24 hours. When a player has broken these rules, we act, and that action can include removing the player’s online account and their access to online play. We report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Because voice chat is not recorded, a clear description of what happened helps us review a report.
Muting players
Mute a player to hide their chat and silence their voice on your device. Reporting a player mutes them too. Mutes are saved on your device until you unmute the player. You can also turn voice chat off or leave a lobby at any time.
Removing players from a lobby
The owner of an online lobby can remove a player while the lobby is open. A removed player cannot rejoin that lobby. Quick Match lobbies have no owner, so nobody can be removed from them; mute and report instead.
How we moderate, and appeals
The App’s language filter, which is on by default, masks offensive words in chat on your device. A person reviews every report and decides any action. If you think we made a mistake, appeal through our contact form with your Game Center name, and a person will review it. Solo play is never affected by moderation.
Regulatory contacts
Authorities and users can reach us under the EU Digital Services Act through our contact form, in English.
Text and voice chat
Chat is between players. Lobby chat is visible to everyone in the lobby, including players who join while the lobby is open. In voice chat, your microphone is used only while you hold HOLD TO TALK, or while you have OPEN MIC turned on, and you can turn voice chat off in the COMMS panel at any time. We do not record or monitor voice chat, so please report abuse when it happens.
Age and parental controls
Ashfall is not directed to children under 13, and the App does not verify age. Online play requires a Game Center account; local network play does not. Parents and guardians can use Apple’s Screen Time to manage Game Center and microphone access, can turn off Local Network access for Ashfall in Settings, and can keep voice chat off in the App’s COMMS panel.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Community Terms as the App changes and will post the updated terms here with a new effective date. If you keep playing with other people after an update, the updated terms apply.
